Science school assemblies done the right way will get your students excited about STEM and science. But many school assemblies on science aren’t fun at all.
They’re boring. Too much scientific terminology that goes way over the kids’ heads.
It’s true.
A few kids start squirming. They start poking at each other. Then the giggles start. Pretty soon some of the students are making “snow angels” on the gym floor.
They amuse themselves because they’re bored.
All because the science assembly presenter you hired didn’t know how to relate to kids.
That’s where I can help.
My 45 minute “Is It Magic or Science?” assembly program gets kids excited about science the moment they walk into the assembly area.
By using colorful backdrops and set pieces, kids are hooked and excited before the show even starts! The “Is It Magic or Science?” set looks less like a school assembly program and more like a game show from Nickelodeon!
But it doesn’t stop there. I will hold your students’ attention with several presentational ‘hooks’ designed to grab the attention of the youngest child and not let go until the end.
Let’s face it. You have a lot of choices for school assemblies online. You likely found me doing a Google search. The sad fact is anyone can decide to call themselves a school assembly presenter.
But don’t worry. I’ve been doing this for over 30 years. After delivering science school assemblies in New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, New York, Washington DC, and North Carolina I have a track record that speaks for itself. Even though COVID-19, I’ve been performing and helping schools bring fun assembly shows to their students.
School principals, teachers, PTO/PTA parents, and media specialists love how I interact with students. They praise my ability to mix entertainment with education.
Here’s what one recent client said:
“I just had 3 teachers tell me this was the best assembly we’ve had…. and I agree!"

I get reactions like that from every performance I do. Every. Single. Time. And that’s good news for you!
We are in the digital age. People are used to carrying tiny 24/7 “instant entertainment boxes” in their pockets. Kids are no different.
I never just talk to students. I design my assemblies like a variety show. There’s something new and exciting happening every few minutes. Kids don’t know what’s coming next!
Silly music, crazy effects, and surprises keep the kids guessing what will come next.
There are incredible science experiments that will cause your students to gas, laugh, point, and (yup, I’m saying it again)
hold their attention.
Kids don’t want to listen to some presenters go “blah, blah, blah” while they just sit and watch. Kids (and adults!) learn and retain information better if they are involved. I get over a DOZEN kids onstage to help out with the science!
I tell people I relate so well to kids because I have the same maturity level! All joking aside, my school assemblies are funny and entirely appropriate for primary and elementary school-age children. And we learn more when we laugh!*

I have performed this amazing school assembly on science live, in-person in hundreds of schools across the country. With the ongoing pandemic, I have also created a fun virtual version!
Do you know what I hate?
When a school assembly presenter does a magic show and tries to paste a science message into a magic trick. A magician might float something in the air and then talk about how gravity keeps us on the Earth.
But the kids just saw something float in the air. So, the kids get a confusing message!
That is NOT what “Is It Magic or Science?” is about.
Yes, I’m a magician. You can see the kind of magic I do in my reading school assembly, my math assembly program, and others.
However, in this science show, I don’t use magic.
Why? The science I use is so amazing that I don’t NEED to use magic to hold students’ attention. And it just clouds the message. So, no magic tricks in this assembly… okay maybe just one!
Here are some of the scientific concepts presented in this school assembly:
